Finding Inspiration In 20 Minutes Or Less (What’s Holding You Back?)
Most people will tell you that, in order to reach peak performance, you have to motivate yourself. Well, let me disagree. I am here to tell you today that the best motivation for peak performance can be anti-motivation. Motivation itself can actually be harmful in some cases. It’s a double-edged sword you have to use carefully. Why? Let’s check it out in detail. What is the whole point of motivation? If we look at it in depth, motivation only serves to help you reach something. You don’t just get motivated. You get motivated to do something. So, if you don’t do that something, it’s no use being motivated.
Everyone should have a role model, from little kids to retired people. Role models inspire us with their accomplishments, hard work, attitudes and ethics. If you don’t have a role model, find someone, be it a famous person or someone close in your life, who has similar passions and interests as you. Take example from them and be impacted by their passion. You may find their inspiration contagious.
Looking at things with a fresh perspective. Looking at things differently is one of the best ideas for this. If you always look at things the same you’ll get used to that perspective and it will be harder to find new ideas and creativity, however just changing some small things about the way you look at situations will make a huge difference.
At one point I climbed higher and stopped for a while. In both directions the river, shining in the sun, threaded the trees and pastures. Across the valley the woods stood showing many shades and shapes of green and, almost at my feet, a flight of swallows skimmed the grass. I was overwhelmed with New content every week – the third flavour.
Most of the people that join a home based business group are motivated to join because of the guru or salesman telling them about the new lifestyle and the big money they can earn. The problem is that motivation does not last. It is not enough or a good enough motivating factor to keep that individual slogging and working hard every day.
For musicians, a good way of doing this, is slightly limiting yourself on purpose, for example, removing a couple of strings on the guitar, and trying to write a solo with the remaining strings. This will make you think about new ways of playing as you have strings missing that you normally would have used, so that when you put the strings back on, you have a fresh mind and new ideas.
Surround yourself with inspiration. This could look very different from person to person. Some find inspiration from past accomplishments, and so they have medals and plaques prominently displayed. Some find inspiration from words, and have quotes framed and hanging where they can read them daily. Others are inspired by people, and so they find time to connect with those people who inspire them. Whatever keeps you going, keep it in front of you.
